Srinagar, October 24, 2025 – J&K Police’s SIA swooped in today with a multi-district crackdown in the Valley, arresting five drug peddlers and seizing contraband worth Rs 50 lakh in raids across Anantnag, Kulgam, and Pulwama. The ops, launching at 5 AM, targeted a syndicate linked to PoK suppliers, wrapping with 2 kg heroin and 500 ecstasy pills by noon. SSP Anantnag Ajaz Ahmad at 11 AM: “This ring fueled youth addiction; cases registered, probe ongoing.”
For Jammu, where border drugs from Samba’s drone scares last week seep in, it’s a border win. A Hindu trader from Raghunath Bazaar, at 12 PM: “Poisons our kids; good bust.” Muslim youth in Akhnoor, at a 1 PM awareness talk, nodded: “Save our villages.” Reasi’s Sikh elders, at 2 PM: “Unity against this scourge.”
Historically, 2020’s NDPS raids netted 100; future: NDPS court fast-tracks.
