Anti-Corruption Bureau J&K Organizes Youth Parliament to Mark Vigilance Awareness Week 2026

JAMMU, October 31, 2026 – Continuing its sustained campaign to promote integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in public administration, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Jammu & Kashmir, organized a day-long Youth Parliament and Vigilance Awareness Session at the Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground, in Jammu on Wednesday.

The significant event was hosted as part of the ongoing “Vigilance Awareness Week-2026,” observed across the nation under the central theme: “Probity for Prosperity.”

The comprehensive program witnessed massive participation, with approximately 550 university students, faculty members, and Youth Parliament interns engaging actively alongside 60 ACB personnel.

Director ACB J&K, Shakti Kumar Pathak, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the critical role of youth in combating corruption. He underscored that ethical values and administrative efficiency are the foundational pillars required for realizing sustainable prosperity in the region. SSP ACB Jammu also reiterated the Bureau’s commitment to a “Zero Tolerance” policy against corruption in public services.

Youth Parliament: Debating Critical Governance Issues

A major highlight of the event was the Youth Parliament, where students engaged in highly structured, constructive debates on critical issues of public governance. The proceedings featured three substantive motions concerning key government departments:

  1. Revenue Department: “Whether Digital Transformation Has Made Revenue Services More Efficient and Effective?” This motion focused on the impact of digitizing revenue records and the overall transformation of revenue administration.
  2. Police Department: The motion centered on tackling cybercrime and addressing emerging cyber threats in the modern digital landscape.
  3. Housing & Urban Development Department: “Smart Jammu: A Reality or a Distant Dream?” This motion examined the practical dimensions, progress, and challenges of the Smart City initiatives.

Following extensive deliberations and an exchange of views among the student parliamentarians, the motions concerning the Revenue Department and the Police Department were passed by a majority vote. However, the motion relating to the Housing & Urban Development Department (Smart Jammu) was not passed, reflecting the critical assessment by the participating youth.

The event also featured an interactive ‘Kahoot’ questionnaire session, which saw enthusiastic participation from nearly 400 attendees, making the learning process highly engaging.

The distinguished guest speakers, including Prof. (Dr.) Kulwant Singh, highlighted the necessity of ethical governance and citizen-centric accountability. The session concluded with the presentation of mementos and certificates of appreciation to the participating students for their active contribution to fostering a culture of honesty.

Similar Youth Parliament sessions were concurrently organized by the ACB at Government Degree College Kishtwar, focusing on recruitment transparency and education, as well as in Poonch and Baramulla earlier in the week, ensuring widespread youth engagement across Jammu and Kashmir.
