BJP Leaders Hail Bhagwan Birsa Munda as Symbol of Tribal Pride; Announce Statewide Week-Long Celebrations

Jammu – November 7: Commemorating the 151st birth anniversary of legendary tribal freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir unit organized an extensive organizational workshop in Jammu to outline the roadmap for the upcoming ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ (Tribal Pride Week) campaign.

The workshop was addressed jointly by J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma (CA), Member of Parliament Ghulam Ali Khatana, general secretaries Sanjita Dogra, Baldev Singh Billawaria, and Gopal Mahajan, alongside ST Morcha President Choudhary Abdul Ghani.

Addressing party cadre and ST Morcha functionaries, Sat Sharma announced that Tribal Pride Week will be observed on a grand social and grassroots scale across Jammu and Kashmir from November 11 to 15, culminating in apex commemorative events on November 15. He instructed district in-charges and community office bearers to organize culturally rooted programmes highlighting tribal heritage, indigenous traditions, and the community’s historic contributions to the Indian freedom struggle.

“Bhagwan Birsa Munda is an enduring beacon of tribal dignity, collective unity, and courageous resistance against colonial exploitation and social oppression. His historic leadership continues to guide and inspire national initiatives aimed at the holistic empowerment of tribal communities,” Sharma stated, releasing the latest edition of the party’s publication, Kamal Sandesh.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Ali Khatana described Bhagwan Birsa Munda as a timeless symbol of India’s civilizational resilience. Khatana emphasized that Birsa Munda awakened a profound spirit of self-determination, cultural identity, and patriotic consciousness among marginalized forest-dwelling communities. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration with according long-overdue institutional recognition to tribal heroes and implementing transformative welfare schemes that are directly uplifting tribal youth, women, and nomadic families across Jammu and Kashmir.

Party leaders directed the ST Morcha to carry the message of Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s legacy to every remote hamlet, Gujjar-Bakerwal habitation, and border settlement during the fortnight-long observances.
