JAMMU, October 27, 2026 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a strong demonstration at Dogra Chowk in Jammu on Monday, protesting against the derogatory remarks allegedly made by Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge concerning the late father of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During the protest, BJP leaders and workers slammed the Congress leadership, accusing them of stooping to a new low in political discourse and severely compromising the dignity of Indian politics. The demonstrators demanded an immediate and unconditional public apology from Kharge, strongly condemning the Congress party for allegedly defending the remarks instead of issuing a formal regret.
The demonstration was prominently led by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) under the leadership of its president Arun Prabhat, alongside the Mahila Morcha led by its president Neha Mahajan. BJYM National Vice-President and Kishtwar MLA, Shagun Parihar, also participated in the protest.
Multiple organizational wings, including the BJP OBC Morcha, SC Morcha, Kisan Morcha, and the party’s respective cells, joined the agitation. Protesters carried placards and raised slogans against Kharge and the Congress party, denouncing what they termed as an increasing culture of personal attacks and indecent political conduct.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Shagun Parihar firmly stated that political differences must never be used as an excuse to attack the dignity of a leader’s family. She argued that the Congress leadership is increasingly resorting to personal attacks out of frustration with Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and popularity.
BJYM President Arun Prabhat asserted that the Congress party’s political frustration has reached a point where basic standards of political decency have been abandoned, maintaining that personal insults cannot diminish the Prime Minister’s commitment to the nation. Mahila Morcha President Neha Mahajan also echoed these sentiments, terming the remarks deeply objectionable.
In a separate statement, J&K BJP Secretary Pawan Sharma questioned the Congress leadership’s values and asked Sonia Gandhi to clarify whether Mallikarjun Kharge made the remarks at the behest of the Gandhi family. He urged the Congress high command to take immediate responsibility for the undignified language and issue a public apology.
