Crime Branch Files Chargesheet Against Two in Multi-Lakh Job Fraud Syndicate

JAMMU, October 30, 2026 – The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Jammu has officially filed a chargesheet against two individuals involved in a massive multi-lakh job fraud syndicate. The chargesheet was submitted before the Court of Sub Judge, Jammu.

The accused have been identified as Peerzada Abdul Hamid, a resident of Damhal, Anantnag, and Muneer Hussain, a resident of Sangyote, Mendhar, in the Poonch district.

According to officials, an FIR (No. 43/2019) under sections 420 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) was initially registered at the Police Station Crime Branch Jammu on the directions of a local court. Ironically, the initial complaint was filed by Muneer Hussain against Peerzada Abdul Hamid, alleging a job scam.

However, a deeper investigation led by Inspector Meenu Sharma unveiled a more sinister conspiracy. The investigation established that Muneer Hussain, who initially posed as the victim and complainant, was actually acting in collusion with Peerzada Abdul Hamid.

The probe revealed that the duo had formed an illicit syndicate to lure vulnerable and unemployed youths. They collected vast sums of money under the pretext of arranging secure government jobs for them. The investigation exposed that Muneer Hussain’s subsequent complaint against his accomplice was a calculated, fraudulent move designed to evade liability and mislead law enforcement agencies once their victims started demanding their money back.

The duo allegedly conspired to defraud several unemployed youths of approximately Rs 25 lakh by promising them government employment.

The Crime Branch successfully gathered robust witness statements, along with corroborating documentary and technical evidence, clearly establishing the active and alleged involvement of both individuals in the scam. Consequently, the comprehensive chargesheet was submitted against both Peerzada Abdul Hamid and Muneer Hussain to face trial and judicial proceedings.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) EOW Jammu Crime Branch, Faisal Qureshi, issued a stern advisory following the filing of the chargesheet. He urged the general public, especially the unemployed youth, to remain highly vigilant against such economic frauds and unauthorized recruiting agents.

The SSP further appealed to citizens that victims of any such economic offences should report the incidents immediately to the EOW Jammu Crime Branch via email at sspcrimejmu@jkpolice.gov.in or by calling the telephone number 0191-2578901.
