DGP J&K Calls for Heightened Vigilance and Intensified Intelligence-Led Operations Across the UT

SRINAGAR, October 15, 2026 – In a crucial operational review meeting, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, directed the union territory’s police force to maintain heightened vigilance and significantly intensify intelligence-led operations to address emerging security challenges.

Chairing the review meeting in a hybrid mode at the Police Control Room (PCR) in Kashmir on Tuesday, DGP Prabhat comprehensively assessed the prevailing security scenario across J&K. Senior officers briefed the police chief on current operational preparedness, recent security developments, and the ongoing measures being undertaken to maintain peace and stability.

Addressing the top brass, the DGP emphatically stressed the critical need for seamless inter-agency coordination. He called for fluid information-sharing among district police units, various intelligence agencies, and other security forces to ensure swift and effective responses to any potential security threats. “All officers should remain alert, proactive, and operationally prepared,” DGP Prabhat stated, emphasizing the need to strengthen the professional competence and operational readiness of the entire force.

A major focus of the review was border security and surveillance. Emphasizing the integration of modern technology, Prabhat directed the leveraging of available technological tools to enhance surveillance capabilities and improve the situational awareness of field formations. He specifically instructed officers to bolster security arrangements in border areas, closely monitor highly sensitive locations, and rigorously coordinate efforts to thwart potential infiltration attempts.

Recognizing the vital role of the public in maintaining peace, the DGP stressed the importance of actively engaging local communities. Building trust with the public, he noted, is essential for encouraging the timely sharing of critical information that can assist security agencies in preemptive actions.

Furthermore, DGP Prabhat issued strict directives regarding the effective utilization of the tenant verification application. He mandated officials to maintain continuously updated digital records of tenants and strictly monitor their verification status. The meeting also addressed civilian concerns, with the DGP instructing regular police station inspections and emphasizing sustained traffic management efforts to promote road safety and improve public convenience.
