Jammu – November 6: In a concerted push to reinforce national security infrastructure and resolve lingering administrative delays, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Vikas Kundal, chaired a comprehensive high-level meeting to review the status of land acquisition, requisition, and transfer cases pertaining to the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) across Jammu Division.
A key focus of the deliberations was the expeditious identification and transfer of suitable state land required for establishing five additional BSF battalions across Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, and Reasi districts. The meeting also evaluated the progress of land acquisition initiated by Jammu and Kashmir Police to accommodate BSF companies stationed across strategically vital security sectors.
The forum conducted an extensive assessment of critical border security projects, including resolving land-related clearances for Border Outposts (BOPs) and addressing requirements for the proposed 135-foot border security fencing along international border stretches. In addition, multiple pending proposals concerning the acquisition and transfer of state land to the CRPF and allied security establishments were scrutinized.
During the review, the Inspector General of BSF Jammu provided an exhaustive district-wise presentation detailing land requisition proposals currently pending at various administrative levels. In turn, concerned Deputy Commissioners briefed the Divisional Commissioner on the present procedural status of individual cases, highlighting specific field-level challenges, revenue documentation requirements, and site demarcation issues impeding quick settlement.
Taking serious cognizance of lingering pendency, Divisional Commissioner Vikas Kundal directed all Deputy Commissioners to conduct a rigorous, case-wise examination of pending matters and enforce their time-bound resolution. To settle discrepancies and boundary issues on the ground, he instructed district administrations to conduct joint field visits with security force representatives for physical on-site verification wherever necessary.
Emphasizing proactive governance, Kundal asked Deputy Commissioners to personally oversee the momentum of land cases within their respective jurisdictions and coordinate closely with security forces and line departments. He underlined that enhanced inter-departmental synergy, rapid submission of requisite documentation, and the removal of procedural bottlenecks are paramount to facilitating seamless land handovers for national defense priorities.
The meeting was attended in person by the Inspector General of BSF, Jammu, and the Inspector General of CRPF, Jammu. Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) from across the Jammu Division participated virtually through video conferencing.
