REASI, October 6, 2026 – Bringing major relief to locals and devotees, the Cyber Police Station in Reasi district has successfully traced and recovered 67 missing mobile phones, collectively valued at approximately ₹12.60 lakh. The recoveries, made during the months of August and September 2026, include smartphones belonging to local residents as well as outstation pilgrims who had visited the revered Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and Shiv Khori shrines.
The recovered handsets were handed over to their rightful owners who were present in the district after proper verification and completion of necessary legal formalities. For the devotees and pilgrims who lost their phones during their yatra and have already returned to their home states, the Reasi Police have made special arrangements. Officials announced that the recovered phones belonging to these outstation yatris will be safely dispatched to their respective addresses via courier services.
Senior police officials emphasized their continued commitment to citizen-centric policing and combating cybercrime. They stated that the dedicated cyber cell is continuously working to trace lost electronics and track down cyber-financial fraud. In a public advisory, the Reasi Police requested pilgrims who have lost their mobile phones but have not yet registered a formal complaint to share their missing phone details, along with the IMEI number, by emailing sspreasi@jkpolice.gov.in for necessary action.
Authorities also reiterated their appeal to the general public to immediately report lost or stolen mobile phones through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal or the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal to facilitate swift tracking and recovery.
