JAMMU, October 17, 2026 – Demanding immediate government intervention for their long-pending financial and administrative grievances, the indefinite peaceful protest dharna launched by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) Employees Union (Jammu Division) entered its 19th consecutive day on Friday.
The agitating employees have expressed serious concern over the administration’s continued delay in addressing their genuine demands. Their primary grievances include the release of pending salaries, clearance of 52 months of outstanding CPF/EPF contributions, and the timely release of retirement benefits.
JKTDC Employees Union President, Qamar Din, has urgently appealed to the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary, and the Managing Director of JKTDC to personally intervene and ensure a time-bound settlement of these burning issues.
Highlighting a prolonged stagnation in career progression, the Union pointed out that the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) has not been convened for nearly 12 years. The employees are demanding the regularization of eligible daily-rated workers who have served the corporation for over two decades, the filling of vacant posts, and adequate budgetary support from the government to revive the cash-strapped corporation.
The Union also emphasized the need for a comprehensive policy to modernize JKTDC, ensuring its long-term financial sustainability and institutional stability. They stated that despite severe financial hardships and career uncertainty, the employees have continued to serve the tourism sector with utmost dedication. However, the ongoing delay in resolving their demands is severely affecting their morale and threatening the financial security of their families.
Reiterating their commitment to a peaceful and democratic struggle, the JKTDC Employees Union made it clear that their indefinite protest will continue unabated until concrete and tangible measures are taken by the UT administration to address their demands.
