JMC Commissioner Inspects Waste Processing Facilities, Directs Trial Run of C&D Plant

JAMMU, October 16, 2026 – Continuing the drive to streamline sanitation and waste management across the region, Ayushi Sudan, Commissioner of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), inspected the Integrated Solid Waste Management Facility at Kot Bhalwal on Thursday.

During the visit, the JMC Commissioner extensively reviewed the functioning of various waste processing units, with a special focus on the newly installed infrastructure and machinery at the Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste processing plant.

The newly established C&D plant is equipped with heavy-duty machinery, including a 6-CUM primary hopper, primary and secondary jaw crushers, a vibrating screen, a 3-CUM secondary hopper, a four-belt conveyor system, and a dedicated washing plant. Other equipment on-site includes a backhoe loader, a tractor with a trolley, a weighbridge, electrical control panels, and protective barbed-wire fencing.

After a thorough assessment of the installation and overall readiness, Commissioner Sudan directed the concerned engineers and officials to immediately initiate a trial run of the plant. The trial aims to meticulously evaluate the operational performance, verify machinery functioning, and iron out any potential technical glitches before the plant begins regular operations.

In addition to the C&D plant, the Commissioner inspected the legacy waste bio-remediation site, closely reviewing the functioning of the installed segregation machines and Kistrack equipment.

The inspection tour also covered the waste processing facility operated by CEF Energy Jammu. Commissioner Sudan evaluated the installed trommel machinery, the Bio-CNG plant, and the ongoing processing operations. Finding room for improvement, she directed the operating agency to significantly scale up the quantity of waste being processed and enhance the facility’s overall operational efficiency.

The Commissioner concluded the visit by issuing strict instructions to officials and agency representatives to take timely follow-up measures, plug operational gaps, and ensure that all facilities deliver their intended environmental outcomes strictly following prescribed standards.

Commissioner Sudan was accompanied by Dr. Jaswant Singh (Executive Engineer), Yasir Bashir Kichloo (Executive Engineer, Mechanical), Talat Mahmood Khan (Sanitation Officer), Romesh Wazir, members of the Swachh Bharat Mission PMU team, and other relevant officials.
