Massive Security Deployment in Delhi Ahead of CJP’s ‘Tiranga’ March: 6,000 Cops, 220 CAPF Companies on Alert

NEW DELHI, October 16, 2026 – Central Delhi has been transformed into a fortress as authorities brace for a high-security Friday ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) proposed ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march. Over 6,000 Delhi Police personnel, backed by 220 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and an expanded CCTV surveillance network have been heavily deployed across the New Delhi area to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents.

The massive security operation centers around Connaught Place, where CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke had urged supporters to gather at Central Park carrying the national flag. However, the proposed gathering faces significant hurdles. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) announced that Central Park will remain completely shut on Friday. Furthermore, the Delhi Police cited strict prohibitory orders against mass gatherings in the area.

A senior police official indicated that while Jantar Mantar has been formally denotified as a designated protest venue, demonstrations could legally be held at alternative sites like Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground, or CBD Ground, provided the requisite permissions are obtained.

The ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march is the latest escalation in an ongoing political confrontation. The CJP, along with several student organizations and opposition figures, is protesting against alleged irregularities and large-scale deletions from electoral rolls during the recent Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The protesters are demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.

Tensions in the capital have remained high following the recent arrest of key CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. The two were sent to five days of judicial custody after entering Jantar Mantar and raising anti-CEC slogans, defying the recent withdrawal of the site’s designated protest status.

To ensure public safety, Delhi Police has also issued a dynamic traffic advisory. Personnel are deployed in shifts at strategic locations with barricades erected to regulate the movement of both protesters and regular commuters. Key routes likely to face diversions include Sansad Marg, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Ashok Road, Tilak Marg, and the Windsor Place intersections. Commuters have been advised to rely on real-time updates from the Delhi Traffic Police handles to navigate the congestion.
