MLA RS Pathania Educates Public on Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls

UDHAMPUR, November 2, 2026 – As part of the nationwide ‘Citizens for Democracy’ outreach initiative, Udhampur East MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania spearheaded a massive public awareness campaign on Sunday to educate citizens about the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Addressing a large gathering of locals and political workers, Pathania broke down the mechanics of the vital democratic exercise. He explained that the revision process heavily relies on comprehensive, door-to-door physical verification conducted by designated Booth Level Officers (BLOs). To maintain absolute transparency, the process also mandates the active participation of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) representing various political parties.

He informed the public that following the verification phase, draft electoral rolls will be officially published, providing citizens with adequate time and opportunity to file objections, make necessary corrections to their details, and submit appeals.

Pathania highlighted the crucial oversight role played by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the respective Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), praising their structural frameworks designed to ensure transparency and absolute accountability throughout the electoral revision process.

Aligning the voter awareness drive with a broader political initiative, the MLA tied the event to the ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy) campaign. “This campaign seeks to encourage informed civic participation and strengthen public confidence in our democratic institutions,” he added, urging citizens to proactively verify their voting credentials.

The awareness outreach witnessed substantial attendance from prominent local leaders, party workers, and residents. Prominent figures present at the event included General Secretaries Anil Sharma, Shiv Ram, Subhash Chander, and Ranjeet Singh, along with Vice President Ravi Padha.

Other notable citizens and representatives who attended the session included Gopal Singh Mankotia, Hem Raj Gupta, Showkat Ali, Faqir Chand, Som Nath, Uttam Singh, Suram Chand, Purani Devi, Deepa Rani, Kuldip Singh, and Haji Mohd Din.
