MARGAO (GOA), October 18, 2026 – Launching a scathing attack on the ruling government and the Election Commission, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar will face justice and “pay the price for ‘vote chori’ (vote theft).”
Gandhi made these remarks while participating in the Congress’s ‘Goy Rakhon Yatra’ in Margao, Goa. During the yatra, he walked a stretch of two kilometers alongside enthusiastic party workers and state leaders before addressing a massive public gathering.
“The entire country knows that CEC Gyanesh Kumar implements ‘vote chori’, and Amit Shah and PM Modi back him,” Gandhi alleged from the stage, intensifying his party’s ongoing critique of the electoral process’s integrity.
Reiterating the Congress party’s commitment to democratic values, Gandhi positioned his party as the ultimate “protector of the Constitution.” He strongly added that the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, and the CEC “know they can’t escape from us” and will ultimately have to answer for their actions before the public and justice system.
During his address, the Congress leader also took a sharp dig at the current state of governance and education in the country. Expressing dismay over the handling of student dissent, Gandhi stated, “India used to have a world-class education system earlier, but now pellet guns are being used against student protesters.”
