UDHAMPUR, October 31, 2026 – Launching a scathing attack on the National Conference-Congress coalition government for its alleged failure to honor promises made during the recent Assembly elections, Udhampur East MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania stated that the current administration has reduced governance to mere political rhetoric and unfulfilled assurances.
Speaking during an extensive tour of his constituency on Friday, Pathania accused the NC of seeking votes on a tall catalog of promises—including 200 units of free electricity, free LPG cylinders, free travel, and one lakh jobs for the youth. However, he claimed that after assuming power, the government has miserably failed to translate these pre-poll commitments into any tangible relief for the common people, leaving Jammu deliberately ignored.
Amidst his critique of the ruling coalition’s unfulfilled promises, Pathania proactively initiated a series of crucial developmental works in the Khandui-Khandra area of Udhampur. These projects are strategically aimed at strengthening rural connectivity, boosting community infrastructure, and upgrading educational facilities for the local populace.
A major highlight of his tour was the kickstarting of the Naddi Talab to Khandra road project, which is set to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 12 crore. Describing rural roads as the lifelines of development, Pathania stated that the new road will significantly improve connectivity, facilitate seamless transportation, and provide remote habitations with better access to essential services, local markets, and livelihood opportunities.
In addition to road infrastructure, Pathania also laid the foundation for the construction of a shelter shed and community hall at the revered Baba Loundna Dev Sthan. To be built at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh, this facility will provide an essential common space for community gatherings, religious occasions, and social functions, thereby strengthening the area’s socio-cultural fabric.
Giving equal emphasis to the education sector, the MLA announced the construction of three additional classrooms at the Government Middle School in Khandui to improve the learning environment for rural students.
The developmental events were attended by a large gathering of prominent local leaders and citizens, including Mandal Pradhan Lalita Sharma, Subhash Sharma, Mangat Ram, Chain Singh Dehati, Rohit Sethi, Pandit Shiv Kumar, and Vijay Kumar.
