PULWAMA, November 2, 2026 – Taking serious note of negligence in the healthcare sector, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Pulwama, Kuldeep Krishan Sidha, ordered strict action against absentee medical staff after a surprise inspection of the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Pampore on Sunday.
During the unannounced visit intended to assess the overall functioning of the healthcare facility, the availability of medical services, and staff attendance, the Deputy Commissioner was shocked to find only a single doctor present on duty.
Taking strong exception to the glaring staff shortage, DC Sidha held the Block Medical Officer (BMO) of Pampore directly accountable for failing to ensure proper staff attendance and the smooth functioning of the vital hospital.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed that government healthcare institutions must function efficiently and remain constantly accessible to the public, particularly in emergencies. He emphasized that punctuality, adherence to official duty schedules, and the uninterrupted delivery of medical services are entirely non-negotiable.
Issuing a stern warning to the administration, Sidha stated that negligence in public service delivery, especially in the critical healthcare sector, would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He directed that immediate and strict disciplinary action be initiated against all officials found derelict in their duties during the inspection.
The administrative crackdown aims to ensure that rural and sub-district hospitals across Pulwama maintain operational readiness and deliver quality care to patients.
