JAMMU, September 23, 2026 – In a major crackdown on organized criminal networks, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu Police has successfully apprehended three alleged members of the notorious ‘Khauf Gang’ during a targeted operation in New Delhi. According to senior police officials, the primary accused, identified as Karanjit Singh alias “Gugga” from Dablehar in R.S. Pura, had evaded arrest for an extended period and was wanted in connection with at least 13 pending FIRs. Singh is a prime suspect in the high-profile Gataroo murder case and has been implicated in numerous other serious offenses, including attempted murder, criminal intimidation, rioting, and the possession of illegal firearms. Highlighting his extensive criminal record, police disclosed that Singh had previously orchestrated a daring escape from the R.S. Pura Observation Home alongside two Pakistani inmates. During that violent jailbreak, on-duty police personnel were allegedly assaulted and injured by indiscriminate firing, leading to the registration of a separate case (FIR No. 39/2026) at the R.S. Pura Police Station.
Executing the coordinated inter-state raid, the SOG personnel also managed to capture two of Singh’s close associates who were sheltering with him in the national capital. The arrested accomplices have been identified as Naresh Kumar alias “Major,” a resident of Arnia, and Rahul Kumar alias “Sundi” from Makhanpur in Bishnah. Police intelligence indicates that Naresh Kumar is deeply entrenched within the gang’s operations and is a close confidant of the absconding criminal Sunil Kumar alias “Gokul.” He faces multiple charges related to violent physical assaults, rioting, and illegal weapons possession. Meanwhile, Rahul Kumar is heavily implicated in a major narcotics syndicate, specifically involving the smuggling of contraband into high-security jail premises, and has been booked under stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act alongside the Prisons Act. Authorities have affirmed that these critical arrests are a testament to the ongoing, rigorous efforts by the Jammu Police to trace high-profile absconders and permanently dismantle organized syndicates operating across state borders. With further interrogations currently underway, investigative agencies anticipate uncovering deeper logistical networks and have not ruled out the possibility of additional arrests in the near future based on the emerging evidence.
