REASI, October 30, 2026 – A tragic road accident in the Arnas area of Reasi district claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman and left three others critically injured late Wednesday night.
The fatal incident occurred at Lastgala, Dhanour in Arnas when a Tempo traveler (bearing registration number JK02AU-8908) lost control and rolled down a deep gorge. According to local police reports, the accident took place at approximately 11:00 PM while the victims were returning home after participating in community labour for laying a roof slab near Dhanour.
The deceased has been identified as Gulshad Begum (35), wife of Mohd Riaz Mehendia, a resident of Dhanour in the Arnas tehsil. She tragically lost her life on the spot due to the severe impact of the crash.
Following the accident, emergency responders and locals quickly evacuated the injured to the District Hospital in Reasi. Given the critical nature of their injuries, two of the victims were subsequently referred to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Jammu for advanced medical treatment. They have been identified as Mohd Altaf (28), son of Abdul Haq, resident of Judda-B, and Subash (30), son of Dhani Ram, resident of Dhanour.
The third injured victim, 15-year-old Rozia Bano, daughter of Mohd Riaz and a resident of Dhanour, is currently undergoing treatment at the District Hospital in Reasi.
Local police have registered a case regarding the incident and initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. The tragic mishap has cast a pall of gloom over the Dhanour community.
