Two-Day Special Intensive Voter Enrolment Drive Concludes Across J&K

SRINAGAR, October 12, 2026 – The two-day Special Intensive Voter Enrolment Drive successfully concluded across Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, marking a strong response from citizens and extensive grassroots outreach by election functionaries.

Organized over the weekend on October 10 and 11, the intensive drive was conducted at polling stations across the Union Territory from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The initiative provided eligible citizens with a direct opportunity to enroll as voters, seek corrections or updates to their electoral particulars, and obtain on-the-spot assistance with matters related to electoral registration. The exercise was firmly aligned with the Election Commission of India’s guiding objective: “No Eligible Voter to Be Left Behind.”

The entire drive was conducted under the overall supervision of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of J&K, Sanjeev Verma. The district election machinery comprehensively coordinated the arrangements, ensuring smooth delivery of enrollment services. District Election Officers (DEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers oversaw the process in their respective jurisdictions, while Booth Level Officers (BLOs) played a crucial role in directly assisting electors at the polling booths.

A significant component of the weekend exercise was door-to-door outreach and inspections conducted by election functionaries. This grassroots effort was designed to identify eligible voters who had not yet registered and encourage them to utilize the enrollment facilities. During the drive, on-ground officials proactively addressed public grievances and queries, sharing official contact numbers to facilitate direct and continued communication with citizens.

Salam Din, Deputy Director Information and Nodal Officer SVEEP, interacted with the media during the event, underscoring the critical importance of voter awareness, accessible enrollment facilities, and sustained public participation in strengthening the democratic process.

While the special drive has concluded, the Election Department clarified that the process of continuous updation remains active. Any eligible individual, especially young and first-time voters, can still apply to their concerned Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) at any time for the inclusion of their names in the electoral roll. The election machinery across Jammu and Kashmir remains available round-the-clock to assist the public with electoral matters.
