SRINAGAR, September 29, 2026 – The Jammu and Kashmir Government informed the Legislative Assembly that as many as 42,540 households flagged by the automated system under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) have been recommended for deletion. This major administrative cleanup was initiated following rigorous verification processes conducted at both the block and district levels. Addressing the House, the government representative stated that the flagged or reverted cases were systematically subjected to verification and re-verification by field functionaries to ensure accuracy. Assuring legislators of transparency, the government emphasized that no individual case would be treated as finally rejected or permanently deleted without due verification and explicit approval from the competent authority. The 42,540 cases were processed for deletion using the scheme’s dedicated deletion module, strictly in accordance with the established guidelines of the Union Ministry of Rural Development.
Addressing concerns about genuine beneficiaries potentially losing out, the government acknowledged that there is currently no prescribed mechanism for the direct re-inclusion of households that may have been inadvertently left out or erroneously deleted from the PMAY-G beneficiary list. However, to mitigate this and identify deserving families missed during the initial survey, Gram Sabhas have been proactively conducted across the concerned panchayats. The administration assured the Assembly that any cases identified and recommended through this grassroots Gram Sabha process would be formally examined and processed as per applicable Central guidelines as soon as a prescribed procedure becomes available. The department further informed that the Draft Permanent Wait List for the housing scheme is currently under preparation, with the final list yet to be generated. PMAY-G remains one of the flagship welfare programs aimed at providing financial assistance for constructing pucca houses with basic amenities for eligible rural households living in dilapidated conditions.
