JAMMU, September 29, 2026 – Frustrated by prolonged administrative apathy, students of the Allied & Healthcare Batch 2022-23 organized a peaceful protest outside Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu on Monday, demanding the immediate commencement of their mandatory internships. The agitating students highlighted that despite successfully completing their academic coursework and degrees months ago, the commencement of their crucial practical training has been inexplicably delayed by the authorities, severely jeopardizing their future prospects. Carrying placards and raising slogans, the students gathered outside the premier medical institution, urging the administration to resolve the deadlock and issue the necessary internship orders without any further delay.
Addressing the media during the demonstration, the aggrieved students expressed their deep concerns over the wastage of their crucial time. “We have invested years of our lives and significant resources in this rigorous healthcare course. We are only asking for our rightful opportunity to complete the required practical internship so we can move ahead with our professional careers,” stated one of the protesting students. They emphasized that without the completion of the mandatory internship period, their degrees remain practically useless, preventing them from applying for jobs or pursuing higher education. The students further clarified that their peaceful protest was a desperate attempt to seek a resolution through constructive dialogue, appealing directly to the GMC administration and the health department to look into the matter urgently and prioritize the commencement of their training to safeguard their academic and professional futures.
