NEW DELHI, October 10, 2026 – The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) claimed on Saturday that three of its prominent leaders—Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka—were detained by the Delhi Police immediately after their flight from Mumbai landed in the national capital.
In a strongly-worded statement, the CJP condemned the alleged detentions, labeling them as a pre-planned administrative move aimed at preventing the leaders from reaching the site of their scheduled demonstration. The CJP had called for a massive protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The planned demonstration was organized to raise concerns over alleged voter-list manipulation during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and controversial changes relating to Form 6, which is used for voter registration. The detention of the CJP leaders comes amidst escalating political tensions and nationwide protests against the Election Commission’s ongoing revision exercise.
Calling the police action a blatant violation of the fundamental freedom of movement, the CJP has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Dipke, Das, and Ranka. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the specific grounds for their detention or where they have been temporarily held.
