Ali Mohammad Sagar Visits Srinagar City; Reviews Development Projects After Assuming Ministerial Portfolio

SRINAGAR, October 30, 2026 – Senior Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) leader and newly appointed Cabinet Minister, Ali Mohammad Sagar, conducted an extensive tour of Srinagar city on Thursday, reviewing ongoing developmental projects and interacting with the public shortly after assuming his new ministerial charge.

Sagar, who was recently allocated the heavyweight portfolios of Revenue, Power, Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs, Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR), and Elections, visited several prominent areas across the city. His visit was aimed at taking first-hand stock of the civic infrastructure, ongoing construction works, and assessing public grievances on the ground.

During his city-wide tour, the veteran leader received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the local residents. He was presented with garlands at various locations by supporters and citizens conveying their best wishes for his new tenure in the UT cabinet.

In addition to reviewing development works, Sagar visited the revered shrines of Dastgeer Sahib, Naqshband Sahib, and Makhdoom Sahib in the downtown area. He underwent ‘Dastar Bandi’ (traditional turban-tying ceremony) at all three shrines and offered special prayers for the peace, progress, and prosperity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the overall well-being of humanity.

Speaking during the visit, Sagar assured the people of his unwavering dedication to public welfare. He reiterated his commitment to addressing the developmental deficit that parts of Srinagar, including his Khanyar constituency, have faced for decades. He emphasized that constructive engagement between the government and the public will remain an important mechanism for identifying challenges, resolving grievances, and strengthening public confidence in the administration.

Earlier this month, as the MLA of Khanyar, Sagar inaugurated and laid foundation stones for developmental works worth Rs 2.78 crore in his constituency, focusing heavily on road upgradation, beautification, drainage systems, and healthcare infrastructure, including the construction of a new NTPHC block at Theed.

“I will make every possible effort to live up to the expectations of the party leadership, the organization, its workers, and the people,” Sagar stated during his tour, reaffirming his focus on effective governance and the time-bound redressal of people’s problems.
