RAIPUR, October 29, 2026 – Amid the widespread impact of Cyclone Arnab across multiple Indian states, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a telephonic conversation with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday to review the situation in the state following the cyclone-induced rainfall.
During the discussion, Chief Minister Sai briefed the Home Minister extensively on the rainfall and the resulting conditions across Chhattisgarh. He confirmed that while the state is currently experiencing rainfall under the influence of the cyclonic system, there have been no reports of flooding or any loss of life from anywhere in the state thus far.
The Chief Minister assured that the state government is closely monitoring the situation on the ground and remains on high alert to handle any emerging emergencies. He also expressed his gratitude to the Union Home Minister for the Centre’s proactive assurance of all possible assistance to the affected states.
“The safety of the people of Chhattisgarh is the state government’s top priority. Necessary precautions are being taken in close coordination with the concerned departments and district administrations to ensure immediate relief and rescue operations whenever required,” the Chief Minister stated during the call.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph is likely at isolated places in Chhattisgarh over the next two days. The capital city, Raipur, is expected to witness generally cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers on Friday.
In addition to Chhattisgarh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke to the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Puducherry to comprehensively assess the cyclone’s impact and coordinate central relief efforts. Central and state disaster management teams remain deployed and on standby to mitigate any hardships faced by the citizens.
