JAMMU, September 7, 2026 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu and Kashmir is set to launch a comprehensive district-wide public outreach program. Beginning today, BJP Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will tour all administrative districts across the Union Territory to interact with the public, document their grievances, and highlight what the party terms as the “failures” of the National Conference (NC)-led government.
The decision for this extensive political mobilization was finalized during a high-level meeting of BJP MLAs held at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by key party figures, including BJP J&K President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma, Leader of Opposition in the J&K Assembly Sunil Sharma, Lok Sabha MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, Deputy Leader of Opposition Surjit Singh Slathia, and General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra and Gopal Mahajan.
1.The Outreach Strategy:
According to a party statement, the outreach program will run from September 7 to September 20. The initiative will be spearheaded by Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, who will officially kick off the tour from the Poonch district. The primary objective is for the MLAs to actively listen to the problems faced by citizens on the ground and systematically collect these issues to raise them forcefully during the upcoming Assembly proceedings.
2.Challenging the NC Government:
Addressing the meeting, BJP J&K President Sat Sharma emphasized that the tour reflects the party’s unwavering commitment to acting as the true voice of the people. He launched a scathing attack on the NC government, alleging that it has completely failed to fulfill its election promises and meet the expectations of the public since taking office.
3.Ground-Level Accountability:
Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma stated that the BJP intends to utilize its role as a robust opposition to ensure strict accountability of the ruling government. He stressed that rather than relying on sanitized official reports from administrative offices, BJP leaders will personally visit towns and remote villages to gauge the real situation. Echoing this, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma assured that the BJP MLAs will stand firmly with the people and guarantee that their genuine concerns are brought before the government.
This move by the BJP signals a clear intent to intensify its political offensive against the Omar Abdullah-led NC government, setting the stage for highly charged debates in the forthcoming Assembly sessions as both sides vie to dominate the narrative on governance and public welfare.
