SRINAGAR, October 31, 2026 – Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards terror-sympathizing elements, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has explicitly directed Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to closely monitor and identify anti-national elements operating within the administration itself.
The strong directives were issued on Friday during a high-level security review meeting chaired by the Lieutenant Governor in Srinagar. The meeting was convened to comprehensively assess the security scenario, operational preparedness, and future counter-terrorism strategies across the Kashmir Division.
Stressing the urgency of combating radicalization, LG Sinha ordered continuous, sustained, and aggressive action against terror modules. He highlighted the need to tighten the counter-infiltration grid and called for seamless synergy between the District Administration, Jammu & Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in executing flawless counter-terror operations.
In a major administrative push, the LG mandated monthly reviews regarding the attachment and confiscation of properties belonging to narco-terrorists and those sustaining the terror-supporting ecosystem. He reiterated that the crackdown on drug smugglers and peddlers must continue unabated to realize the vision of a “Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir.”
“Under no circumstances should communal harmony and the law & order situation be allowed to deteriorate. We must institutionalize best practices and implement District Convergence Plans to ensure sustainable peace and development,” the Lieutenant Governor stated during the meeting.
He also highlighted the critical importance of fostering a strong, trust-based connection between the citizens, the police, and the civil administration to ensure the swift resolution of public grievances. Furthermore, he directed the establishment of district-level social media cells to actively monitor and swiftly counter misinformation campaigns designed to disturb the peace.
As the region braces for the harsh winter, the LG also reviewed administrative preparedness. He instructed officials to ensure adequate stockpiling of essential commodities and the deployment of robust snow-clearance mechanisms across the Valley. The progress of various key infrastructure projects in the Kashmir Division was also reviewed during the extensive session.
The high-stakes meeting saw the attendance of top administrative and police brass, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo; Chief Secretary Designate Dr. Sajjan Singh Yadav; DGP Nalin Prabhat; Additional Chief Secretary Home Department Chandraker Bharti; Special DG Coordination PHQ S.J.M. Gillani; ADG CID M.K. Sinha; IGP Kashmir Sujit Singh; and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, among other senior officials.
