RAJOURI, October 31, 2026 – A bitter land dispute between two brothers took a tragic and violent turn in the Rajouri district on Friday, resulting in the brutal murder of one brother by the other. The shocking incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Kandi Police Station.
According to preliminary police reports, the deceased has been identified as Sakhi Mohd, son of Mohd Israel, a resident of Kandi Morah. The accused in the murder is his real brother, Mohd Rafiq.
Sources indicate that what began as a heated verbal argument over a piece of property quickly escalated into a violent physical altercation. During the scuffle, Sakhi Mohd sustained fatal injuries and tragically lost his life.
Upon receiving information about the violent clash, a police team from the Kandi Police Station immediately rushed to the crime scene. The police secured the area and successfully arrested the accused, Mohd Rafiq, taking him into custody.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered a case under FIR No. 162 U/S 103 in connection with the murder and have initiated a comprehensive investigation to uncover the exact sequence of events that led to the fratricide. The body of the deceased was shifted for medico-legal formalities before being handed over for the last rites.
The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the Kandi Morah community, highlighting the devastating consequences of escalating property and family disputes.
