JAMMU, November 3, 2026 – Setting the tone for his administration following the reopening of the Civil Secretariat in Jammu after the annual Darbar Move, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah directed his Cabinet ministers to immediately fast-track all ongoing developmental projects and strengthen public grievance redressal mechanisms across Jammu and Kashmir.
Chairing a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat on Monday to assess administrative functioning and developmental priorities, the Chief Minister underscored the urgency of accelerating project execution as the region’s primary working season draws to a close.
According to an official statement, Abdullah specifically directed the newly appointed ministers to conduct comprehensive reviews of their respective departments. He emphasized that resolving public grievances and ensuring prompt delivery of essential services must remain the administration’s top priority.
A critical aspect of the meeting focused on adequate winter preparedness, particularly for far-flung and inaccessible regions. The Chief Minister ordered all concerned departments to maintain sufficient stocks of essential commodities, especially ration and heating supplies, in remote areas to prevent any public distress during the harsh winter months.
Looking ahead to the upcoming fiscal year, Abdullah instructed the bureaucracy to adopt a “time-bound and people-centric” approach to budgetary planning. He urged departments to formulate realistic budget proposals that accurately reflect the needs and aspirations of the people, advising against the last-minute inclusion of commitments that may be difficult to implement on the ground.
Addressing the logistical challenges of the Darbar Move, the Chief Minister also directed the administration to resolve any shortcomings related to accommodation and office facilities for the employees who have recently shifted from Srinagar to Jammu, ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted functioning of the government.
Following the formal meeting, Omar Abdullah visited the chambers of his newly inducted ministers, interacted with the Secretariat staff, and personally inspected the arrangements put in place for the winter session in Jammu.
