NEW DELHI, November 4, 2026 – Launching a scathing attack on the opposition, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and nominated Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, Er. Gulam Ali Khatana, accused the Congress-led INDI Alliance of acting as a “tool in the hands of anti-India forces.”
Addressing the media in New Delhi, Khatana strongly condemned the opposition bloc for allegedly attempting to create political instability, spread misinformation, and disturb the country’s communal harmony by politicizing sensitive issues of national importance.
Khatana asserted that rather than playing the constructive role expected of a responsible opposition, the Congress and its alliance partners are increasingly indulging in divisive politics. He specifically pointed to the opposition’s stance on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), claiming these crucial national matters are being unnecessarily dragged into political controversies for narrow electoral gains.
Defending the government’s initiatives, the BJP MP noted that electoral reforms and the maintenance of accurate voter lists are essential pillars for strengthening democracy. “However, whenever the government undertakes measures to improve transparency and accountability, Congress and its allies attempt to create apprehensions among the public instead of engaging in a meaningful democratic discussion,” he said.
On the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Khatana reiterated the government’s position that the legislation is purely intended to provide relief and a pathway to citizenship for persecuted minority communities from neighboring countries. He alleged that the Congress has deliberately misrepresented the law’s provisions to mislead vulnerable communities through politically motivated narratives.
“The Congress party has lost its political direction and is increasingly behaving like a tool in the hands of forces inimical to India’s interests. Its repeated attempts to create unrest, question every national initiative, and exploit sensitive issues for political mileage raise serious questions about whose interests it is actually serving,” Khatana remarked.
He further criticized the INDI Alliance, stating that blind opposition to the government appears to have become their sole political agenda, irrespective of the damage it causes to national unity and institutional credibility. While acknowledging that democracy provides every political party the right to protest and question the government, Khatana stressed that these rights must be exercised responsibly and within the constitutional framework.
Concluding his address, Khatana appealed to the public—especially the youth—to remain vigilant against manufactured controversies and politically motivated propaganda designed to divide society along religious and regional lines. Reaffirming his commitment to the vision of a united India, he expressed confidence that the country will continue its trajectory of development, good governance, and inclusive growth under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, despite attempts by vested interests to derail its progress.
