Dr. Jitendra Singh Visits ESTIC 2026 Exhibition; Reaffirms Govt Facilitation to Link Start-Ups with Industry

NEW DELHI, October 29, 2026 – Underscoring the critical need for robust synergy between indigenous innovation and commercial markets, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has called for stronger linkages between Start-Ups and the broader industry.

The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology reaffirmed the Central Government’s active role in facilitating these partnerships to ensure that indigenous innovations transition smoothly from research and development (R&D) to widespread commercial adoption.

Dr. Singh made these remarks during his extensive visit to the ‘Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave’ (ESTIC) 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The three-day conclave, running from October 27 to 29, serves as a massive platform showcasing the breadth of India’s scientific and technological capabilities. It features 50 handpicked deep-tech startups, 13 departmental stalls, and 10 exclusive departmental technologies.

During his visit to the exhibition, the Minister reviewed a diverse range of groundbreaking innovations designed to address real-world challenges. A major highlight of the exhibition was the ‘CSIR Designer Rice’—a high-protein, low-glycemic-index (GI) rice developed at the CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST). Formulated using structural modification, this rice contains approximately 20 percent protein and a reported GI of 54, making it highly relevant for dietary and diabetes management.

Another standout innovation showcased was ‘JEET,’ a highly advanced SCMC4212 microcontroller unit developed by Signalchip. The unit reflects India’s rapidly growing prowess in indigenous semiconductor and electronic-system design. Powered by a Yati 32-bit RISC-V CPU, the microcontroller’s potential applications span across flight controllers, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, robotics, and industrial automation.

The exhibition also featured bio-based packaging and application-specific sustainable products, highlighting a strong push towards sustainable material innovation.

Reiterating his consistent advocacy for coordination among research institutions, startups, industry players, and the government, Dr. Singh noted that India’s expanding innovation ecosystem offers unprecedented opportunities. He urged all stakeholders to step forward and make effective use of conclaves like ESTIC-2026 to scale up their solutions and strengthen India’s innovation-led economic growth.
