EC Announces Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls in 6 States & UTs; Final List on Jan 21

NEW DELHI, November 5, 2026 – Gearing up to ensure accurate and updated voter databases, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday announced a Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls across six States and Union Territories (UTs). The final, updated voter lists for these regions are scheduled to be published on January 21, 2027.

The comprehensive revision exercise will be conducted in Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Mizoram, Odisha, and Sikkim.

According to the Election Commission’s official schedule, the draft electoral rolls will be published on November 30, 2026. The primary objective of the SSR is to enroll all eligible voters who have been left out, with a special focus on maximizing the inclusion of young and first-time electors.

In a significant move to streamline youth participation, the SSR will also facilitate advance enrollment applications from young citizens who are set to become eligible to vote (attaining the age of 18) on subsequent qualifying dates next year: April 1, July 1, and October 1, 2027. This ensures that newly eligible voters do not have to wait for the next annual revision to get their Voter ID cards.

To guarantee a smooth, transparent, and error-free revision process, the Election Commission has issued strict directives to the Chief Secretaries of the respective States and UTs, mandating them to ensure the deployment of adequate manpower, administrative support, and resources for the Election Registration Officers (EROs) and Booth Level Officers (BLOs).

The Commission has also urged political parties and citizens to actively participate in the claims and objections period following the publication of the draft rolls to help standardize addresses, remove deceased voters, and correct any demographic anomalies before the final January publication.
