ED Raids Residence of Punjab Congress Leader Sundar Sham Arora in PMLA Case

CHANDIGARH, November 2, 2026 – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday launched widespread search operations at multiple premises linked to former Punjab minister and senior Congress leader Sunder Sham Arora in connection with an ongoing money laundering investigation.

Acting under the strict provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the central agency raided Arora’s primary residence in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. In addition to the former minister, ED sleuths also conducted simultaneous searches at locations associated with his son, Prateek Arora, as well as the premises of the Marbella Group, the Gulmohar Township Group, their key promoters, and an individual identified as Sanjeev Juneja.

According to official sources, the ED’s aggressive action stems from an earlier corruption case registered against Sunder Sham Arora by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau. That case alleged severe corruption and the amassing of assets highly disproportionate to his known sources of income during his tenure.

Furthermore, the money laundering probe is intricately linked to purported financial and administrative irregularities involving the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC). The ED is investigating the suspicious allotment of prime plots by the PSIEC and subsequent, allegedly unlawful, changes in their ownership structures that may have financially benefited the accused at the cost of the state exchequer.

The raids are part of a broader crackdown on alleged deep-rooted corruption involving prominent political figures and their corporate associates in Punjab. The ED is currently scrutinizing documents, electronic devices, and financial records seized during the operation to trace the exact money trail and establish the extent of the alleged laundering network.

Sunder Sham Arora, who previously held key ministerial portfolios in the Punjab government, has faced increasing legal and investigative heat over the past year regarding his financial dealings and administrative decisions.
