Jammu Railway Division Recovers ₹48.88 Lakh in Intensive Ticket-Checking Drive

JAMMU, October 5, 2026 – The Northern Railway’s Jammu Division has generated ₹48.88 lakh in revenue following an intensive month-long ticket-checking drive conducted throughout September 2026. The special campaign, which aimed to curb irregular travel and enforce station rules, resulted in the detection of 6,617 violation cases across the division.

Carried out under the supervision of the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, the checking drive ran from September 1 to September 30. The operation covered major railway stations including Jammu Tawi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Udhampur, and Pathankot Cantt, as well as various passenger trains operating within the division.

A total of ₹48,88,890 was realized from the penalization of the detected cases. According to the Railway authorities, the violations primarily included instances of ticketless and irregular travel. Furthermore, action was also taken against passengers violating basic civic rules, with fines levied for smoking and littering on railway premises and inside train coaches.

Railway authorities emphasized that travelling without a valid ticket, smoking, and littering are punishable offences. The Jammu Division administration has issued a fresh appeal to all esteemed passengers to ensure they travel only with proper, valid tickets, refrain from smoking on railway property, and help maintain cleanliness across all station premises.
