J&K BJP Chief Sat Sharma Meets Nitin Gadkari, Seeks Major Road Infrastructure Push and Landslide Solutions

NEW DELHI, July 28, 2026 – In a significant move to boost development in the region, BJP Jammu & Kashmir President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma met with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to seek a major push for road infrastructure across the Union Territory.

During the high-level meeting in the national capital, Sharma highlighted the critical need to further strengthen J&K’s road network. He emphasized that improved connectivity is essential for the region’s economic growth, trade, tourism, healthcare, and national security, especially given its strategic location and challenging terrain.

While expressing gratitude for the ministry’s ongoing efforts to ensure 12-month all-weather connectivity between major regions of J&K and Ladakh, Sharma drew attention to the recurring issues of landslides during the monsoon season. He urged the Union Minister to implement advanced engineering solutions, scientific slope stabilization, and modern monitoring systems to make the highways more resilient and minimize weather-related road closures.

The BJP leader also requested the time-bound completion of crucial ongoing projects, including national highways, tunnels, elevated corridors, and flyovers. He noted that accelerating these projects would significantly reduce travel time, enhance commuter safety, and unlock new avenues for employment and investment in the region.

Praising the unprecedented infrastructure progress achieved under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Sharma noted that these developments carry forward the vision of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

In response, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari assured full support from the Ministry to continue prioritizing and strengthening the road infrastructure and connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir.
