SRINAGAR, September 15, 2026 – Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held a series of meetings on Monday with various legislators, delegations, and individuals at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar to discuss pressing issues of public importance and regional development. The interactions reflect the administration’s ongoing efforts to engage directly with elected representatives and public deputations to address grassroots concerns. During the meetings, several constituency-specific matters, public welfare initiatives, and developmental projects were brought to his attention for prompt redressal.
Among the prominent leaders who called on the Chief Minister was Sonawari MLA Hilal Akbar Lone, who was accompanied by a public delegation. The delegation presented a detailed overview of various developmental challenges and public welfare concerns pertaining to the Sonawari constituency. Following this, Khansahib MLA Saif-ud-Din Bhat also met with the Chief Minister to apprise him of several key constituency-specific issues requiring the government’s immediate intervention and support. The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the elected representatives, assuring them of appropriate action to resolve the highlighted grievances.
In addition to political leaders, the Chief Minister held discussions with key officials from the agricultural and horticultural sectors. He met with M.K. Verma, Director of the ICAR-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture (CITH) in Srinagar, along with Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director of the National Horticulture Board. The delegation engaged in detailed discussions with the Chief Minister regarding the functioning, future development, and strategic initiatives of the Centre. The meeting underscored the administration’s focus on boosting the region’s horticulture sector, which remains a crucial pillar of Jammu and Kashmir’s rural economy.
