JAMMU, September 11, 2026 – Sunil Sharma, the Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, led an extensive public outreach programme at the Jammu Convention Centre on Thursday to address the grievances and pending demands of citizens. The initiative was attended by a host of BJP MLAs, including Sham Lal Sharma, Ch Vikram Randhawa, Yudhvir Sethi, Arvind Gupta, Dr Rajeev Bhagat, Mohan Lal Bhagat, and Surinder Bhagat. During the event, a large number of delegations representing various sections of society apprised the BJP leaders of pressing issues concerning their livelihoods, employment, business, infrastructure, and overall welfare. Among the delegations were representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, Traders Federation, Industries Federation, NHM employees, Daily Wagers, OBC Samaj, Transporters, Junior Pharmacists, farmers, PoJK refugees, and sports associations.
After giving a patient hearing to the diverse delegations, Sunil Sharma directed the concerned departments to initiate immediate remedial measures and assured the public that every genuine issue would be raised forcefully during the upcoming Assembly Session. Addressing media persons on the sidelines of the event, Sharma launched a sharp critique of the ruling National Conference (NC) government. He stated that while the people of Jammu and Kashmir had voted with great expectations for change, development, and better governance, the NC government has increasingly failed to live up to those aspirations. He accused the current administration of being more focused on political distractions, excuses, and rhetoric, rather than resolving the genuine concerns of employees, traders, youth, and farmers.
Sharma made it categorically clear that the BJP stands firmly with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and will not allow their concerns to be pushed aside. Asserting that the party will remain the strongest voice inside and outside the Legislative Assembly, he emphasized that the BJP will not sit quietly while public aspirations are compromised by the misgovernance of the NC. The Leader of Opposition reiterated that the primary aim of this public outreach is to ensure the voice of every marginalized section reaches the highest forums of governance, adding that BJP MLAs will continue to fight for the legitimate rights, dignity, and a better future for the people of J&K.
