SRINAGAR, September 18, 2026 – The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has officially released the date sheets for the upcoming Annual Regular (October-November) 2026 examination session for Classes 10, 11, and 12. According to the official notification, the examinations will be conducted for students across the Kashmir Division, the designated winter zone areas of the Jammu Division, and the Union Territory of Ladakh. The Class 10 examinations are scheduled to commence on October 19 with the Mathematics paper and will conclude on November 18 with Computer Science. Similarly, the board examinations for Class 12 will begin on October 21, followed by the start of Class 11 exams on October 29. All theoretical examinations for these classes will be held in a single shift, starting uniformly at 11:00 AM and concluding at 2:00 PM. JKBOSE has advised students to carry their official Admit Cards to the examination centres daily for identification, noting that the schedules for practical examinations will be issued separately by the respective Joint Secretaries of Examination for both divisions.
Alongside the examination schedule, JKBOSE has provided a significant academic relief to Class 12 students regarding subject changes and eligibility criteria. In a fresh directive issued by Director Academics Dr. Parveen Singh, the board has officially amended the mandatory rule requiring students to pass corresponding subjects in Class 11. Previously, if a student opted to change a subject in Class 12 or transferred from another recognized educational board, they were compelled to clear that specific subject in Class 11 as well. Under the revised guidelines, this condition has been completely removed. Consequently, a student who has successfully passed Class 11 from any recognized board seeking admission to Class 12 in a JKBOSE-affiliated institution will no longer need to pass the corresponding subject in Class 11, even if the subject is not offered by JKBOSE within the same stream.
Furthermore, this exemption also applies to students currently enrolled in Class 12 at a JKBOSE-affiliated school who decide to change a subject within their existing stream, whether in Arts, Science, or Commerce. They will not be required to pass the newly opted subject at the Class 11 level, provided the subject change complies with other existing JKBOSE regulations. The board has clarified that this new, relaxed rule will be implemented starting from the academic session 2025-26 onwards. However, JKBOSE explicitly stated that all other foundational eligibility conditions, core subject combination rules, and overall academic requirements will remain unchanged, ensuring that the fundamental academic standards of the board are maintained while providing flexibility to the students.
