RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Granted Bail in 2011 Poll Code Violation Case by Siwan Court

Siwan (Bihar) – November 6: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad was granted bail by a local court in Bihar’s Siwan district in connection with a 13-year-old case involving the alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct during the 2011 Assembly election campaign.

The veteran political leader appeared in person before the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM)-I following the issuance of warrants and proclamation notices against him over his repeated non-appearance during earlier hearings in the long-pending trial.

Addressing media personnel outside the court premises, Prasad’s counsel, Kameshwar Tiwari, explained that the former Union Minister’s prior absences were purely due to ongoing medical complications and frail health. He clarified that there was no willful intention to disregard judicial directives or bypass legal proceedings.

After reviewing the arguments and medical submissions placed on record, the magistrate’s court accepted the bail plea, completing the requisite formalities for the veteran leader.
