Amit Shah Calls for Electoral Hat-Trick in Uttarakhand, Sets 65-Seat Target for Upcoming Assembly Polls

Dehradun – November 6: Sounding the poll bugle for the upcoming assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah called for an electoral “hat-trick” in Uttarakhand, setting an ambitious target for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to secure more than 65 seats in the 70-member legislative assembly.

Addressing a massive public gathering in Dehradun on the occasion of the 26th Foundation Day of Uttarakhand, the Home Minister launched a fierce political offensive against the Congress party, contrasting the track records of both administrations. Shah alleged that while previous Congress governments patronized divisive policies such as advocating for a “Muslim university,” the current BJP regime has focused decisively on governance, clearing government land of illegal encroachments, unauthorized shrines, and unregistered madrasas.

Referring to the contentious land removal drive across 29 acres in Haldwani, Shah remarked that opposition leaders like Rahul Gandhi were unsettled when administrative law enforcement acted firmly against encroachment cartels. He further characterized Rahul Gandhi’s nationwide political outreach, termed ‘Vote Bachao Yatra’, as a “Ghuspetiya (Infiltrator) Bachao Yatra,” reiterating the Union government’s resolve to purge unauthorized infiltrators from electoral rolls and national territory.

“The BJP aims to build a secure, self-reliant, and prosperous state, transforming Devbhoomi into the cultural capital of the nation,” Shah declared. Exhorting party cadre to initiate extensive booth-level, door-to-door public campaigns, he recalled the party’s previous electoral sweeps—securing 57 seats in 2017 and 47 seats in 2022—while calling upon workers to surpass the 65-seat milestone in early 2027.

Highlighting the state’s economic metamorphosis, the Home Minister pointed out a staggering 380 percent expansion in Uttarakhand’s tourism sector. He stressed that the double-engine government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has systematically transitioned the regional financial structure from a traditional “money-order economy” to an “industrial and entrepreneurial economy.” Shah also highlighted key border security transformations, including the Rs 270-crore infrastructure development across 51 border villages under the flagship ‘Vibrant Village’ initiative.

Sharing the stage, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took aim at opposition leaders for habitually questioning electronic voting machines (EVMs) whenever they face electoral defeat. Dhami also condemned opposition rhetoric against National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, a distinguished native of Uttarakhand. Outlining his administration’s governance milestones, the Chief Minister noted that his government has dismantled recruitment mafias by incarcerating over 100 individuals and providing more than 35,000 transparent, corruption-free government jobs to local youth.
