JAMMU, September 18, 2026 – A 35-year-old newspaper vendor was brutally shot dead inside his residence in the Resham Ghar Colony area of Jammu on Thursday afternoon, prompting police to launch an intensive investigation to identify and apprehend the attacker. The deceased has been identified by authorities as Deepak Sharma. According to preliminary accounts provided by his family members, Sharma had returned home for his lunch break when an unidentified assailant allegedly entered his room and shot him in the head at point-blank range before immediately fleeing the scene. Following the attack, a critically injured Sharma was hurriedly rushed to the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Jammu; however, attending doctors declared him brought dead upon arrival.
