Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Hands Over Rs 1 Lakh Each to 51 Newlywed Women on First Karwa Chauth

NEW DELHI, October 29, 2026 – Celebrating the festive spirit while promoting women’s empowerment, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday handed over financial assistance cheques of Rs 1 lakh each, along with special Karwa Chauth kits, to 51 newlywed women in the national capital.

The beneficiaries were women who had recently tied the knot at a mass wedding ceremony organized by the Ladli Foundation earlier this year in March. The distribution event was hosted at the Mukhyamantri Janseva Sadan to mark the occasion of the women’s first Karwa Chauth after marriage.

Interacting warmly with the newlyweds, Chief Minister Gupta congratulated them and extended her best wishes for a happy, prosperous, and secure married life. She took the time to inquire about their families and their experiences transitioning into married life, assuring them of the Delhi government’s unwavering support in times of difficulty.

“I stand with every daughter of Delhi as her elder sister. Do not panic when faced with any difficulty; speak openly about your concerns,” the Chief Minister told the gathering.

Beyond the financial aid, CM Gupta encouraged the young women to actively pursue their personal dreams, build their own independent identities, and move forward in life with confidence. She emphasized that a woman’s happiness, dignity, and self-reliance are of utmost importance, and that they should always feel safe, respected, and supported in society.

The Chief Minister also expressed her deep appreciation for the Ladli Foundation’s initiative. She noted that supporting women from vulnerable backgrounds at the time of their marriage and extending continued assistance during significant milestones in their lives is a highly commendable effort.

According to an official statement, the initiative is designed to provide not just financial assistance but also emotional support to these women and their families, fostering a broader sense of respect, cooperation, and social belonging.
