JAMMU, October 5, 2026 – To leverage digital public infrastructure for the benefit of the agricultural community, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, chaired a high-level meeting of the Divisional Level Committee to formulate a comprehensive action plan for the innovative use of AgriStack data. The initiative focuses on utilizing verified digital data to deliver farmer-centric services and enhance agricultural productivity across the division.
During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner directed key departments—including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, and Cooperatives, along with NABARD, Lead Banks, and Krishi Vigyan Kendras—to identify sector-specific use cases for the AgriStack data. He emphasized the importance of exploring data applications in crucial areas such as agricultural services, crop insurance, banking and credit, and marketing and mandi linkages. Kumar stressed that these proposed applications must account for the distinct topography, agro-climatic conditions, and varied agricultural practices prevailing across the different districts of the Jammu division.
To ensure a highly localized approach, Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to convene preliminary district-level meetings with all relevant stakeholders to prepare district-specific proposals. The Director of Agriculture, Jammu, has been tasked with coordinating this exercise and compiling the inputs and recommendations received from all districts. The concerned departments have been given a ten-day deadline to submit their presentations and inputs, after which the proposals will be refined into implementable strategies at the divisional level for onward submission to the Union Territory administration.
The meeting saw widespread participation, both in person and virtually, including Deputy Commissioners of the Jammu Division, various departmental directors, ADCs, and representatives from SKUAST-J, NIC, and JaKGA. The AgriStack initiative, a core component of the Digital Agriculture Mission, aims to empower farmers by providing them with precise technological insights regarding soil health, suitable crops, and the correct application of fertilizers and pesticides.
