NEW DELHI, October 10, 2026 – Emphasizing the guiding principle of “Science by the People, Science for the People,” Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh on Friday launched the newly redeveloped official websites of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Ministry of Science & Technology.
The launch event, held at Kartavya Bhawan in New Delhi, marks a significant step towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of citizen-first governance by making scientific information highly accessible, inclusive, and useful to citizens across the country. The revamped portals—www.dst.gov.in and www.most.gov.in—were developed jointly by the DST and the National Informatics Centre (NIC) in strict accordance with the latest Digital Brand Identity Manual (DBIM) 3.0 and the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites and Apps (GIGW) 3.0.
During the launch, Dr. Singh highlighted that the integrated platform will serve as a single-window resource for students, research fellows, academic institutions, startups, innovators, and media professionals. The redesigned information architecture will allow users to effortlessly locate details regarding DST schemes, research grants, fellowships, application guidelines, and official notifications.
A standout feature of the newly launched websites is the integration of ‘Bhashini’, an AI-driven language translation tool that enables access to scientific content in 22 different Indian languages. This addition is specifically designed to bridge the language barrier and widen the reach of scientific knowledge among diverse audiences nationwide.
Furthermore, the portals incorporate state-of-the-art universal accessibility features designed for users with diverse needs. These include adjustable font sizes, high-contrast display modes, letter-spacing adjustments, and full screen-reader compatibility. The responsive design ensures seamless usability across desktops, tablets, and mobile devices.
Prof. Umesh V. Waghmare, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, along with senior DST officials and representatives from the development agency, were present during the launch. The initiative forms part of a broader push by the Government of India to harmonize its digital footprint, ensuring greater consistency, improved user experience, and sustainable governance of digital content.
