Jammu Tawi Railway Station Introduces Revised Entry and Exit Arrangements Amid Redevelopment

JAMMU, September 15, 2026 – In view of the extensive, ongoing redevelopment work at the Jammu Tawi Railway Station, Northern Railway authorities have announced revised entry and exit arrangements for passengers, effective from September 16. The new circulation plan has been carefully designed to maintain an orderly flow of travelers and prioritize their safety, security, and convenience while ensuring that major construction activities proceed without any hindrance. According to railway officials, these temporary measures are crucial for balancing the massive infrastructure upgrade with daily passenger operations at one of the busiest rail hubs in the region.

Under the newly introduced arrangements, all passengers arriving to board their trains are required to enter the station exclusively through the Platform Number 1 side, which serves as the old primary entry point. Conversely, passengers who have completed their journey and are deboarding at the station will be directed to exit through the second side, commonly known as the Narwal side. However, the railway administration has provided a specific exemption to ease passenger logistics: if a train arrives at Platform Number 1, the family members and relatives accompanying passengers for drop-offs will also be permitted to exit from the Platform Number 1 side itself, preventing unnecessary detours.

Railway authorities have strongly advised all travelers to strictly adhere to these revised directions and to utilize the newly installed directional signage across the station premises to avoid any confusion or inconvenience. Officials emphasized that this temporary circulation arrangement will remain in full force throughout the redevelopment period, minimizing disruptions to the public while construction crews work towards transforming the station. Once the comprehensive redevelopment project is successfully completed, the Jammu Tawi Railway Station will offer commuters vastly improved, modern facilities and a state-of-the-art transit experience.
