Protest Held in Jammu Against Violence in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir

Jammu Protest Condemns Civilian Killings in Pakistan-Occupied Jammu & Kashmir

Jammu, June 15: Citizens, social activists, youth representatives, and members of various organizations gathered in Jammu to express concern over the recent violence in Pakistan-Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK), where clashes between protesters and security forces have reportedly resulted in the loss of several civilian lives and injuries to many others.

The protest was organized to highlight the humanitarian situation in PoJK and to stand in solidarity with the families affected by the recent unrest. Participants carried placards, raised slogans, and called for the protection of fundamental human rights and democratic freedoms in the region.

Speakers at the gathering alleged that the people of PoJK have been facing increasing restrictions and suppression while attempting to raise issues related to governance, representation, and regional rights. They expressed concern over reports of civilian casualties, arrests, communication restrictions, and the deployment of security forces during the ongoing protests. Recent international media reports also indicate that violent clashes have led to multiple deaths and injuries, further escalating tensions in the region.

The protesters in Jammu urged the international community, human rights organizations, and democratic institutions to take note of the developments and ensure that the rights and safety of civilians are protected. They stressed that peaceful dissent should be addressed through dialogue rather than force.

Addressing the gathering, several speakers stated that the voices of the people living in Pakistan-Occupied Jammu & Kashmir deserve to be heard and that lasting peace can only be achieved through respect for democratic principles, human rights, and public participation.

The protest concluded with participants observing a moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives during the unrest. The organizers reiterated their commitment to raising awareness about the situation and advocating for justice and accountability through peaceful and democratic means.

Recent reports indicate that the unrest in Pakistan-administered Kashmir was triggered by disputes related to political representation and electoral arrangements, leading to widespread demonstrations and confrontations with security forces. Multiple independent news organizations have reported fatalities among both civilians and security personnel.
