Two-Day Summit at IIM Jammu Begins Today to Unlock Region’s GCC Potential

JAMMU, October 9, 2026 – To position Jammu and Kashmir as an emerging destination for global corporate investments, a high-profile two-day event, the “J&K GCC Summit 2026,” officially commenced today at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu. The summit is being organized by IIM Jammu in close collaboration with the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, with NASSCOM serving as the knowledge partner.

The two-day conclave, held at the Mandapam on the IIM Jammu Jagti campus, is centered around the theme, “Unlocking J&K’s GCC Potential for Building Growth Ecosystem & Catalysing Investment”. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is the Chief Guest for the inaugural session, which will set the stage for extensive industry-government dialogues, strategic networking, and investment showcases.

Addressing a press conference ahead of the summit on Wednesday, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Secretary of the Labour and Employment Department, J&K, emphasized the importance of the event for the region’s economic future. He noted that the summit comes at a crucial juncture as J&K aggressively looks to create new avenues for employment and economic opportunities for its growing pool of skilled and educated youth. Recognizing that the government alone cannot absorb the entire workforce, Ranjan highlighted that Global Capability Centres (GCCs) can play a transformative role by creating high-value jobs across finance, human resources, technology, analytics, and other knowledge-driven sectors.

The J&K GCC Summit 2026 is expected to host over 300 delegates, including global leaders, policymakers, industry pioneers, and investors. The agenda includes six high-impact panel discussions focusing on India’s GCC growth story, policy-led growth, industry-government partnerships, and creating a sustainable ecosystem for multinational corporations.

Other key dignitaries who addressed the summit’s curtain-raiser included Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean of Faculty and Research at IIM Jammu; Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean of Academics at IIM Jammu; and Dr. Sandeep Ananthanarayanan, CEO of CITaG at IIM Jammu.

By showcasing J&K’s competitive operating costs, emerging talent pool, and proactive policy support, the administration hopes this summit will serve as the foundation for attracting the region’s first major anchor GCC tenants, paving the way for long-term economic development.
